Description: The Public Service Commission Photographs (1,831 photographs, 1910-1947) consist of photographs documenting the Commission’s work on the Astoria Houses, a public housing development, a number of roads in Queens, Long Island Rail Road and Robert Moses’ Rockaway Beach Improvement project. The photographs document the commissions work to eliminate railroad crossing, upgrade railroad tracks, widen and expand roads in Queens, and prepare for the government’s takeover of land in Astoria for public housing and the Rockaway Beach for “improvement.”; The photographs are located in the Archives at Queens Library, 89-11 Merrick Blvd., Jamaica, NY 11432, in boxes N121-N123, N150 (negatives and interpositives); P53 and HF (prints); the digital images are available online.; http://queenslibrary.org/research/archives
