Description: In the summertime, Shavetta and her family frequently walk to their temple, which is fourteen blocks away. She compares the temples in Queens to the ones in India. She also talks about the clothes on the statues, which she loves and has donated in the past. Shavetta notes that she became more religious when she came to the US because she prayed every day with her in-laws. She tells a story about a special ritual she did so that she could be blessed with a son after she had her daughter. She also dresses up and goes to the temple on holidays and other special occasions.
