Description: Shavetta and her family set up a temple in their own home for the holiday Diwali. They have prayers, offer sweets, and light diyas for this festival. She gives offerings for her children and husband's birthdays as well. Though she has never participated in the parade for Holi, or Phagwah as the interviewer called it, she witnessed it once on Hillside Avenue. She wasn't fond of getting dirtied by the colored powders that people through to celebrate Holi. Shavetta misses spending the holidays with a lot of friends and family like she would in India.
