Description: Block printed white muslin dress 1830 - Showing the trend away from the Empire period. Watercolor painted by Lina Maetto; Label mounted with watercolor: Block Print White Muslin Dress of 1830 showing clearly the trend away from the empire priod towar the voluminous crinoline period. The bodice is made with a low neck cut out in a shallow "V" at the center front. The bertha is cut in long rectangular points and is attached to the front of the shoulder. The bodice is gathered on the waistband toward the center front. The sleeve is of the gigot type - long, very full to the elbow and tight from elbow to waist. The full skirt is attached to the waistband in front in un pressed box pleats and gathered to it in the back.
