Description: Governor Dewitt Clinton House - Located at the NW of Junction of Maspeth Ave., Maurice Ave., 58th St., and 56th Terrace. Judge Joseph Sackett (d. 1755) built the two-story wood frame mansion with porches around both levels ca. 1725; Governor Clinton (1769-1828) used it as his summer house. It was later owned by Clinton's son in law David S. Jones 1846; E. Godrey 1852, 1860; P. Grussy Owned 1873, 1891. The wing on the right was taken off in the 1890's, and the verandas were gone by the early 20th Century, the house was divided into tenements before it burned down in 1933.
