Description: Coe's House (aka Coe's Mill, aka Titus House) - View from Colonial Ave. at Mill Creek (aka Horse Brook). The house and mill (not pictured) were built in 1655 by Judge Robert Coe (B. England 1596, came to America 1634), a founder/resident of Hempstead 1644-52, Newtown 1652-56, and a purchaser of land in Jamaica (Queens) 1656, and resident there 1656-78. Coe bought the farm at Hempstead & lived there until his death in 1688 at age 93, his eldest son John became owner of Newtown House in 1656, and it was demolished by September 1930.
