Description: Ivanhoe Park Fire Hook and Ladder Co. - Shed and pumping station on the south side of Catalpa Ave. at 62nd Street (Sedgwick St), directly behind the Edsall House on SE corner of Catalpa Avenue and Fresh Pond Road. The shed for the pumping station and cistern were built by Henry W. Meyer (owner of Ivanhoe Tobacco Co.), who formed the Ivanhoe Park Hose Company at his own expense ca. 1890-92 to protect his residence and Tobacco Factory from fire. In 1896 Ivanhoe Park Fire Hook and Ladder Co. No. 10 was organized and incorporated into the Newtown Fire Department, and from 1896 -1900 this was home to the Newtown Fire Department until a new station was built on the south side of Myrtle Avenue between 66th Place and 67th Street.
