Guide to the Thomas Robinson Military Papers 1853-1893 (Bulk 1860-1869) Control # R-6
Description: This small collection consists of only one bound volume and some 25 loose documents. The bound volume is a Roll List of the Company maintained by Robinson. It contains about 88 pages. A few pages have been torn out. The roll is in alphabetical order and gives the age of the soldier; date of enrollment; and enumerates a few articles of clothing issued to him. Since the dates of enrollment appear to be all in 1861, this may have been a special roll book used at the beginning of the Civil War. The loose documents are dated as early as about 1853 and as late as 1893, with the vast majority, however, for the 1860s. Included are a few letters from high officers; printed meeting notices; a printed invitations to various social functions. It is not known if all of these items were those of Captain Robinson. Not all bear names, and not all of those which do have names, bear his on them. It is not known for certain that the volume was once in the possession of the Flushing Historical Society. It is also probable that the loose documents were also once in their possession.
