Description: The old Newtown Presbyterian Church. The church burned on October 14, 1928, and was gone by May 1929. Image is faded.; hand written on back of print: Old Presbyterian church built 1787-91 The original Presb. Meeting house built 1671 stood on the opposite site of road nearly opposite the present Old church. Was occupied by Episcopal 1903-1708 First edifice on northside (site ofthe present old church) was built 1716 but was not fully completed ntil 1741 the site was donated by Jonathan Fish 1715. The first edifice on this site stood while Revolutionary War used as guardhouse and prison by British + after demolished Newtown 1922
